Abstract

This work describes the parametric study for the Cost-effectiveness of Solid (PCC) bridge piers of Canal C.D works typically used for small bridges and culverts. A two-lane bridge is taken into account for the project work having total width of 8.25 m and carriage way width of 7.25 m. Some of the parameters are taken constant for design of the piers. Load, forces and load combination are considered as per IRC-6:2017 and permissible stresses in concrete and stability parameters confirm to IRC-78:2014. The piers are designed for span of 6m, 8m, 10m. For each span five ratios of Height/Span are considered i.e. 0.8, 0.9, 1, 1.1, 1.2. All these piers are checked for different strata condition and simultaneously design charts are prepared with respect to height and foundational strata.
