Abstract

In the article the emergence and formation of the Karakalpak written literary language is studied. There are controversial views on the formation of the Karakalpak written literary language. Some scholars say that the Karakalpak literary language began to take shape in the 15th and 16th centuries, while some scholars believe that it took shape in the 1940s. The article scientifically proves that the Karakalpak written literary language began to take shape in the middle of the XIX century. It is known that the Karakalpak written literary language was formed in the XIX century due to the written creation of the works of the classics of Karakalpak literature - Kunkhozha, Azhiniyaz, Berdak and Utesh. In this process, it was proved that the role of Berdak poet, the highest peak of Karakalpak literature, was special.
