KNOWLEDGE, AWARENESS AND PREVALENCE OF BATRACHOPHOBIA AMONG UNDERGRADUATE DENTAL STUDENTS - A QUESTIONNAIRE SURVEY

Abstract

Background:  Batrachophobia is the fear of amphibians, such as frogs, toads, salamanders, etc. People of this phobia may experience symptoms of fear and anxiety when interacting with amphibians, looking at pictures or discussing them with other people.

Objectives: The main objective of this study is to find the number of people who are affected by this phobia in a private dental institution.

Methods and Materials: Sample sizes of 100 students were taken into account,several questions were shot in Google forms, the answers were calculated in SPSS software.

Results: A total of 115 Dental Students participated in this study. Out of them, 48.08% feel that they are suffering from Batrachophobia. Only 29.6% of them only said that Batrachophobia is fear of amphibians which is the fact.

Conclusion: It is concluded that 48.08% students are suffering from Batrachophobia. People with excessive levels change their lifestyle due to this Phobia. Further, more attention should be given for the early detection and intervention for treatment of Batrachophobia.
