KNOWLEDGE AND AWARENESS ABOUT DESENSITIZING TOOTHPASTE AMONG DENTAL STUDENTS - A QUESTIONNAIRE SURVEY

Abstract

BACKGROUND: Phobia is an excessive and irrational fear reaction that is unlikely to cause harm. Chromophobia is a fear of colour. It is a persistent, irrational fear or aversion to the colour.

AIM: The aim of this study is to analyse the awareness about chromophobia among dental students.

MATERIALS AND METHODS: A survey with a set of 15 questions was prepared. The questions were demonstrated to 100 participants through google docs by sharing links. This study is a cross sectional study

RESULTS: Majority of the population  of the students were aware about chromophobia (44%) and 32% of them weren't aware about chromophobia. When we compare the gender and when asked whether they felt any vibes when seeing a specific colour most of the female students 28% said yes. According to Goillon the lack of any kind of visual stimuli increases anxiety,uncertainty and tension that cause phobia.

CONCLUSION: From the result we concluded that the majority of the students were aware about chromophobia. This study may help the people to gain more knowledge on chromophobia. By increasing the awareness camps, social media, seminars may reach all kinds of people easily.
