Abstract

Introduction: The medical education system of India is one of the most important and largest systems in the world. Every year lakhs of students apply for the Medical examinations. NEET is the only entrance examination for taking admission to all medical and dental courses all over India. Many students who belong to lower casts are not getting equal opportunities.  Many coaching institutions have become an obstacle for rural and socio-culturally underprivileged students who don’t get enough opportunities to study well in coaching institutions.

Aim: The aim of the study is to create awareness of the NEET effect on students’ life.

Materials and methods: This is a cross-sectional survey-based study and a set of questionnaires was prepared based on NEET effect on students’ life. It was circulated among participants through survey planet software. The sample size chosen for this study was 100. Before the start of the survey, a detailed explanation of the study was shared with the participant. Once the participants completed filing the survey, all the data were compiled for statistical analysis. Students are not aware of the NEET effect. 77.39 % had responded that the NEET textbook is not beneficial but 26.61 % responded that it is beneficial.

Conclusion: The Government of India and the Medical Council of India should take some important steps to make the NEET easy for the students without any burden and provide government coaching for the students who cannot effort coaching for preparation.
