AWARENESS ON MANAGEMENT OF ELECTRICAL BURNS IN DENTAL OPERATORY AMONG DENTAL STUDENTS- A QUESTIONNAIRE SURVEY
Abstract
Background: Electrical burns of the mouth are most commonly seen in children primarily occurring in the 6 to 36 months age group. Contemporary understanding of burn management in the paediatric population is underscored by several decades of advancing care in resuscitation, reconstruction and rehabilitation.
Aim: To create awareness about electrical burns in dental operatives among dental operative students.
Materials and Methods: A total of 10 questions were prepared in the form of a survey questionnaire on google forms. Responses were collected from 100 clinical dental graduates. Statistical analysis was done with the SPSS software version 23. Chi-square test was used and statistical significance was set at 5%.
Result: Males are more aware than females about dental operators.
Conclusion: The management of electric burns of the mouth is a long and laborious endeavor.in their review concluded that younger children with more severe burns have a less favorable outcome. No hemorrhage was observed immediately after the burn or at eschar separation and conservative surgical treatment after scar maturation and in some cases following steroid injections - resulted in a successful functional and esthetic outcome.
