Abstract

This paper analyse and compare the seismic behaviour of circular ground service reservoir according to IS 1893:1984 and IS 1893 (Part 2):2014. Analysis is carried out for circular ground service reservoir of capacity 200 m3 considering different seismic zone i.e. Zone II, III, IV and V as per codal provision of IS 1893:1984 and IS 1893 (Part 2):2014. Results are shown for each zone in the form of graphs. The parameters like base shear, Max hydrodynamic pressure for wall of tank and base slab, impulsive hydrodynamic pressures and convective hydrodynamic pressures on wall of tank and base slab are obtained by using both codes. The results showed that the values obtained for IS 1893 (Part-II) 2014 are greater than old code. These values are gradually increasing as zone factor increases from low intensity to severe intensity. The results values obtained from this study have ensured that design of GSR by revised code is more accurate and reliable. Novelty: Very few studies focus on hydrodynamic pressure of water tank and compared by IS1893:1984 and IS1893(Part 2):2014. In this study Hydrodynamic pressure are determined and compared by both codes.
