A Study to Assess Level of Knowledge regarding Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (ABPMJAY) among People Residing in Urban Areas

Abstract

Ayushman Bharat, a flagship scheme of Government of India, was launched as recommended by the National Health Policy 2017. The main aim of the policy is to achieve the vision of Universal Health Coverage (UHC). It was designed to meet Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and its underlining commitment, which is to "leave no one behind.

Material and Methods:  A non experimental research design was used .The participants were peoples who residing in urban area and who had consented to participate in the study. A total of 100 peoples were selected through Non-Probability Purposive Sampling. Data was collected by using structured questionnaire. The average time taken by each sample for answering the question was 15-30-minute. Data analysis was done mainly using descriptive statistics. In that frequency, mean, SD, & Chi square test were included. The knowledge level categorized under Good, Average and Poor.

 Results: Majority 62% of samples was having poor knowledge, 22% peoples were having average knowledge and 16% peoples were having good knowledge. Mean knowledge score was 8.5 with SD + 4.42.Conclusion: It is concluded that large number of peoples were not had an adequate knowledge about Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (ABPMJAY) policy, eligibility criteria advantages, facilities. The study can be replicated on large samples in different districts of Maharashtra and across India.
