Abstract

A new method has been developed and validated for the assay of Sparfloxacin using methanol AR and Simulated tear fluid PH 7.4. The λ max (absorption maxima) of the drug was found to be 304nm and 290nm in the respective solvents (methanol AR and simulated tear fluid PH 7.4). Linear response was observed in the range of 2-12 ug/ml with a regression coefficient of 0.999. Furthermore, various validation parameters as per ICH Q2B guideline were tested and found accordingly. The method and solution were significantly (P<0.05) stable for 15 days. The method was validated using various parameters including accuracy, precision, LOD, and LOQ. The developed method was a less toxic, cheap, eco-friendly but equally sensitive spectroscopic method for the quantitative determination of Sparfloxacin for regular quality control purpose in laboratories.
