COVID-19 outbreaks among female high school students in the central district of Mahshahr

Abstract

Objective: The outbreak of COVID-19 has caused numerous problems and lifestyles changes around the world. In this regard, the present study evaluated the prevalence of corona-virus among female high school students in the central district of Mahshahr.

Methods: This is a descriptive-analytical cross-sectional study on 294 female high school students of Mahshahr in the academic year 2020-2021. Data was collected via a virtual questionnaire. It was analyzed using SPSS 23 and descriptive and inferential statistics. The statistically significance level was considered to be p˂0.05.

Results: The subjects’ and the infection mean ages were 13.92 and 14.43 years, respectively. In total, 7.8% of the subjects were of the definite cases of COVID-19. A meaningful relationship was observed between the symptoms (including fever, tiredness, cough, sore throat, muscle aches, headache, nasal congestion, digestive problems, anorexia, loss of smell and taste, pimples, pale fingers, and toes, swelled body, breathing difficulties or shortness of breath, and feeling of pain or pressure on the chest) and infection with corona-virus.
