Abstract

The word ‘Ergonomics’ is familiar with most professions, but increasingly in the field of dentistry. It is a discipline that studies worker and the relationship to their occupational environment. Repetitive strain injuries are in rise in dentistry, leading to long-term disability. Ergonomics in relation to dentistry includes various concepts such as dentist position, patient’s position, usage of equipment, working area design and it is overall impact of dentist’s health.   Working er­gonomically helps to prevent work-related injuries. The dentist must optimize their working environment to help eliminate awkward postures, fatigue and physical strain.
