A Controlled Clinical Study of Analgesic and Anti-Inflammatory Effect of Local Application of Polyherbal Oil in Musculo-Skeletal Disorders

Abstract

Background: Musculoskeletal disorders may affect muscles, joints, tendons, ligaments, and nerves. Musculoskeletal disorders are most often caused by either the task itself or an employee's work environment over time.Aims and objective:To evaluate anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects of polyherbal oil in musculoskeletal disorders. And to propose probable mechanism of action of polyherbal oil in musculoskeletal disorders.Material and methods:All available Ayurvedic classics and modern available texts,Group A:30 patients withPolyherbal oil; Group B:30 Patients withDiclofenac sodium Gelandthe following scale was used to help out assessing the severity of pain.Result:Both the drugs exert significant effect on the symptoms of MSD and whereas 20 % Cured,43.33 % Markedly Improved,33.33% Improved. Conclusion:Polyherbal oil are significantly better than the diclofenac gel on all the symptoms of the MSD except in the symptom tenderness. On tenderness both drugs almost same effect. The study drug polyherbal oil impart relief not only immediate after the treatment from the symptoms but also has prolonged effect on all the symptoms.
