Ayurveda and STDs – A review

Abstract

Background- Ayurveda promotes good health and the prevention and treatment of sickness through the use of lifestyle practises such as dinacharya, ritucharya, and sadvrutta, which all have a role in preventing disease. To prevent and reduce the prevalence of sexually transmitted illnesses such as HIV, AIDS, genital herpes, clamydia, and syphilis, among others. Since the times of charaka and sushruta, sexually transmitted diseases have been documented. Clinical diagnosis is made in Ayurvedic writings based on symptoms. Full information regarding firanga and updansha, which are linked to sexually transmitted illnesses, is given in ayurvedic texts, however the nomenclature is different.

Objective:1.To understand the description of STDs in various ayurvedic text .

2.To understand  STDs   prevention and its management which is mention in Ayurveda

  1. To understand the role of Dincharya , ritucharya, sadvrutta in STDs

Methodology: From various  literature  articles related to STDs were searched  .The search was done to include articles published till date .

Result: Yoga&Asanas are helpful in prevention of STDs.

Conclusion: ancient ayurvedic text has briefly explained STDs, there signs & symptoms there management but there nomenclatures are quite different from morden literature.Various Yoga&Asanas have been explained in Ayurveda text for management of STDs.
