Abstract

The relationship between retroaortic left renal vein (RLRV) and gonadal vein disorders was investigated in this study. Accordingly, patients undergoing multiple detector computed tomography (MDCT) of the abdomen and pelvis for any reason were also examined for the presence of RLRV and its association with gonadal vein disorders. Therefore, this study was focused on 78 women and 51 men with RLRV (case), and 78 women and 51 men without RLRV (control) who had a study of gonadal vein disorder. In the female population, 39.7% of the case group had gonadal vascular disorders, compared to only 12.8% of the control group. In

men, 33% of the case group were positive for gonadal disorders, while 24.5% of the control group suffered from the disorder. Therefore, vascular disorders in both men and women were significantly higher in the group with RLRV than in the group without RLRV (p<0.05). In conclusion, based on the results, the presence of RLRV can be mentioned as one of the etiological factors of gonadal vein disorders in both men and women, which should be considered.
