Systematic Review: The Effect of Moderate Intensity Aerobic Exercise on Lung Function

Abstract

Physical exercise is very important in keeping the body healthy and fit. It is known that physical exercise can improve physical fitness, and can also reduce morbidity and mortality in chronic diseases.One type of physical exercise is aerobic exercise where this exercise is an activity that is carried out systematically by increasing the load gradually and is also carried out continuously with energy sources that come from the use of oxygen, therefore, this exercise requires oxygen so as not to cause fatigue. Aerobic exercise is useful in improving and maintaining the health and endurance of the cardiovascular system and respiratory system as well as the muscles and joints. The purpose of this literature review is to determine the effect of moderate-intensity aerobic exercise on lung function. The writing was done by analyzing some literature related obtained from search results from various databases medical journals, namely PubMed-MEDLINE, ScienceDirect and Google Scholar. The articles included in English and published around the year of 2010-2020. A total of 10 articles were included in this literature review. There is a difference in the value of lung function after doing moderate-intensity aerobic exercise.
