Awareness On Children’s Age Estimation In Forensic Odontology Among Dental Students

Abstract

Introduction

Human identification is one of the most important tasks of a forensic practitioner. Estimation of age is one of the essential factors which play a significant role in each aspect of life, including forensic medicine and dentistry, wherein race, age, and sex determination are used in person identification.

Materials and methods

A questionnaire with 10 questions was prepared regarding the age estimation of children among dental students. The questionnaire was uploaded in google form.

Results

Results were analysed through SPSS software. It was found to be that majority of the females who took the survey were aware about the children’s age estimation methods in forensic odontology

Conclusion

The study concludes that females are more aware of the age estimation of children than males who took up the survey.
